The rap around calf feature sold me on these and I think that's where I had a problem with them. It seems that when I crouched down, it pulled the bottom up and didn't let the rap-around cuff settle down into the original position when I stood back up. Well the first day I wore them, I was pulling the saw out of a cut I had finished and relaxed my arm as I was moving to the next cut. The chain was barely moving when it caught the bulge from the wrinkle. That caused two tears in the outside fabric and grabbed one nylon thread from inside. That did not stop the saw. Second day after a dab of super glue and some duct tape to keep thing from hanging out, I hit the bulge again, only this time, what a mess. Grabbed the outside layer again in the exact same place and got into the nylon thread AND IT STOPPED THE SAW. BTW., it is very hard to get the saw cleared out and back up and running.
Now I've been buckin' fire wood and cutting down trees for a long time. I'm 68 years old. I've worn Husqvarna chaps for the last couple of years now, cause I though it would be a good idea and it is, all without incident. Two days in a row without ever having this happen to me seems a little funky to me.
I gave these chaps 4 stars because the product is made well and they did stop the saw. Had this been an actual emergence, they most likely would have saved a trip to the emergency room.
The Fix. I'm not sure if leaving the bottom straps looser or if the material they were made of was more supple. I really don't know, but as they are, they're not my cup of tea.
